Notes: During the War of 1861, Joachim, fils served in Company H of the 4th Regiment Louisiana Infantry, raised in West Baton Rouge Parish, which fought in Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia, and Alabama. At age 28, Joachim enlisted with younger brother Prudent at Camp Moore, Tangipahoa Parish, in May 1861 (brothers Louis and Joseph Isidore joined the company later, Louis as an officer). Joachim's Confederate service did not last long. He fell sick at New Orleans the month of his enlistment but returned to his unit. The following winter, he contracted pneumonia at Berwick City, on the lower Atchafalaya, and was sent to a hospital in New Orleans. Evidently he did not recuperate. He was sent home, where he died in 1862, age 29 years old. Evidently he did not marry. Famille/Conjoint(e): Thibodeaux, Josephine. [Feuille familiale] [Tableau familial] |
