In 2018, my cousin Doris and I connected with a collective group of long distance Daigle cousins who had done extensive research on the Daigle geneology. This started our Daigle Genealogy Project in compiling all these data and transcribing local geneology data into a databank for the Daigle Family reunion as part of the Acadian World Congress 2019.
Dedicated research and hours of data entry have been done by Doris Daigle who has been able to merge all the data, has done extensive research on the Daigle from the Kent County of New Brunswick and also our keeper of the Association genealogy project. Our Daigle family databank now contains over 49,500 names.
We are grateful for the data shared by Donald Daigle, from Louisiane, who shared his research on the Daigle descendants of Olivier Daigre and Jean Daigle dit L’Allemand on both respective lines of descendants who settled in Louisiana in the mid-late 1700’s. Gord Deagle from Ottawa, who’s ancestors settled in Margaree, NS, shared his genealogy data and this was a great addition.
Genealogy is a never ending project, as the accuracy of data is so important. Although, there were many civil records that were lost during the Grand Dérangement, we are fortunate that we have renowned researchers at the Musée Acadiens de l’Université de Moncton, namely Stephen White, who has done extensive research on the Acadian families including the Daigle family, all the contributors to the Acadian Project, Lucie LeBlanc Consentino and so many more. We also want to recognize Bernadette Daigle, author of L’Odyssée des Familles Daigle, and Zela Layden who has done extensive research on the Daigle families of Kent county, NB.
If you have information you would like to share or corrections that need to be made to our genealogy databank, you can connect with Doris and I at associationdaigle@gmail.com
